David Sale Memorial Challenge 2008

The Challenge

This challenge was conceived to recognise the places that mattered most to David during his short but active life. We will start in the North East of England, where he was brought up and educated, and will finish in Oxfordshire, which was his home for the last two years of his life.

Starting on July 28th, we will, over the course of the week:

  • Play hockey against a Durham County team at Durham University
  • Swim the length of Derwent Water in Northumberland
  • Cycle circa 350 miles to Oxford
  • Run a half-marathon into RAF Benson (where David was based as a Puma Pilot)
  • Play hockey against an RAF side in London

At either end of the challenge, we’ll be holding dinners in his honour. We feel that a smaller challenge would not have been worthy of his name.
